Rational approach to ecology
Our targets
Key environmental indicators in 2023*
Implemented projects
Transition to elemental chlorine-free pulp bleaching
As a result of reconstruction of Fiberline Syktyvkarskiy LPK stopped using elemental chlorine for pulp bleaching and staked on environmental technologies.
This enabled to reduce the volume and pollution of waste water.
New recovery boiler and NCG collection system
The new recovery boiler (RB) replaced three old boilers and considerably reduced air emissions.
The boiler is equipped with an electrostatic precipitator for cleaning of flue gases from dust and a secondary and tertiary air distribution system facilitating combustion of odorous gases generated during cooking process and gases from a dissolving tank in its furnace.
Upgrade of waste water treatment plant
Best available techniques were used to improve a waste water treatment process. This resulted in increased efficiency of waste water treatment facilities, the indicators fully comply with federal standards for waste water discharge by pulp and paper mills.
Thanks to the large-scale upgrade the mill was removed from the Barents/Euro-Arctic environmental hot spot list.
First stage of Power Plant modernization
In the course of the project the mill installed a new biofuel (bark) boiler, a steam turbine and upgraded the distribution network.
This enabled to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 200 thousand tons, to recycle the entire volume of generated bark and wood wastes and to increase generation of green energy.
Industrial waste landfill
The mill aims at minimizing industrial wastes by bringing them back as much as practical to production. The wastes that can’t be recycled in the short term are stored in the state-of-the-art landfill with a separate storage technology in place.
The landfill meets sanitary and epidemiological requirements and environmental law.
